The University of Melbourne is hosting the 2024 Symposium: Climate Action in Cities at its Glyn Davis Building on November 12–13.
The symposium will bring together local and international speakers and guests to explore the theme of climate action. It aims to connect academic, government and industry experts to influence the national agenda for the transformation of our urban spaces.
According to the University of Melbourne, our cities are responsible for up to 75 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions, making the built environment our greatest challenge but also our greatest opportunity for climate action.
The two days will incorporate keynote lectures, interactive sessions, panel discussions and site visits that unpack urban solutions to the climate crisis from different angles.
Keynotes include urbanist and founding director of Desire Lines, Sarah Ichioka; and academic and materials scientist Professor Deb Chachra, author of How Infrastructure Works: Inside the Systems that Shape Our World.
Tickets costs $20 for concession card holders and $60 for full fee tickets. For more information and to register, visit the symposium website.
