Program confirmed for REB26 at the MCG
AIRAH and FMA have unveiled the full program and speaker line-up for the 2026 Reshaping Existing Buildings Conference (REB26).

Taking place on June 3–4 at the Olympic Room in the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), REB26 brings together leading experts, practitioners, and innovators to explore how existing buildings can be transformed into more resilient, energy-efficient, and sustainable assets.
Under the theme “Transforming the past: Reshaping existing buildings for a decarbonised future”, the program features a diverse range of sessions covering real-world case studies, emerging technologies, and practical strategies for upgrading existing building stock.
Highlights of the program
Key themes throughout the conference include:
- Embedding sustainability into the retrofit process
- Minimising waste and embracing circular economy principles
- Using data to inform and optimise the retrofit process
- Electrifying existing buildings and infrastructure.
There are three panel sessions throughout the two-day conference, covering the following topics:
- Understanding the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards
- Minimising waste when reshaping existing buildings
- Grid-interactive buildings and grid flexibility.
But perhaps the highlights will be the two optional activities on the second afternoon of the conference.
From 2–3pm, attendees can enjoy a tour of the MCG, the world’s 10th-largest stadium, and the spiritual home of both Australian cricket and AFL.
Then, from 4–5pm, there’s a site visit to Melbourne’s historic Spring Street precinct, which houses heritage-protected public buildings including state parliament and treasury. Attendees will get a sense of the challenges of running and maintaining world-class HVAC systems and building services in older public buildings with high foot traffic.
Capacity for both site visits is limited – first in, best dressed!
You can explore the full program via the REB26 website.
