NZ dates confirmed for 2023 future:gas roadshow

The future:gas organisers have confirmed venues and dates for the New Zealand leg of the 2023 refrigerant seminar roadshow.

With the seminar series already under way and travelling across Australia, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu until September, the dates for Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin have been confirmed as July 25, 26, and 27.

The series has been organised to deliver vital information to industry stakeholders preparing for systems and equipment designed for new refrigerants such as HFOs, CO₂, ammonia, hydrocarbons, lower global warming potential (GWP) HFCs, and refrigerant blends, as well as other emerging technologies.

The future:gas organisers note that new refrigerants and the components and systems designed for them will present significant changes to the tools, working practices, standards and workplace safety considerations relating to installation, repair, service and refrigerant recovery.

Fifteen top refrigeration and air conditioning experts from major global refrigerant and equipment manufacturers, Australian industry associations, and the product stewardship scheme that safely destroys refrigerant at end of life are delivering this year’s series. They include Refrigerant Reclaim Australia General Manager Kylie Farrelley and Refrigerants Australia Executive Director Greg Picker.

Key talking points are:

• The reasons behind refrigerant changes, including environmental and energy-efficiency requirements, regulatory changes and market forces, as well as the potential impact of PFAS laws
• The latest information on refrigerants, including HFOs, HFCs such as R32, CO₂, ammonia and hydrocarbons, plus other new blends and technologies as well as suitable applications, retrofit potential, safety, sustainability, total cost of ownership, commercial availability, performance and handling characteristics
• Overall changes to tools, working practices and equipment standards from a stationary sector perspective.

The seminars are especially targeted at businesses and technicians working in the installation, service and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning technology.

“Attendees receive a comprehensive overview of new-generation refrigerants, related technologies and the reason for these changes in one knowledge-enhancing evening,” say the organisers.

The seminars are being held on midweek evenings to be as accessible as possible to those working in refrigeration and air conditioning.
