International Women in Engineering Day is taking place on June 23 with the theme “Inventors and Innovators”. Also known as INWED, the event celebrates the achievements of female engineers around the world.
The Women’s Engineering Society (WES) in the UK originally launched the initiative, which now has an international reach and UNESCO patronage. The idea behind the day is to encourage all groups – governmental, educational, corporate, individuals and further organisations – to hold events to support the day and link them together for maximum impact.
The day is an opportunity to explore what organisations are doing to support their women engineers, and to celebrate those making great strides towards creating a more diverse and gender-equal industry.
AIRAH celebrates diversity in the HVAC&R industry through the AIRAH Awards and the Women of AIRAH Special Technical Group.
