The Gustav Lorentzen Conference on Natural Refrigerants will be held from June 13–15 in Trondheim, Norway – the hometown of Professor Gustav Lorentzen and, according to organisers, “the cradle for the revival of CO2 as a refrigerant”.

Since 1994, the conference has been held every two years in different locations, and has become a global meeting place for more than 350 field experts from industry and research. The conference typically has 120 oral presentations in plenary and parallel sessions, more than 50 posters, and world leading keynote speakers from science and government.

The theme for this year’s event is “The Natural Choices by 2030”.

“Currently the whole industry is in search for alternatives complying with the phase-down prescribed by the Kigali amendment to the Montreal Protocol,” say the organisers. “Especially for A5 countries, conversion to natural refrigerants could be a possibility to leapfrog to long-term environmentally safe alternatives.

“The main objectives of the conference will be to discuss the latest research results and advances related to the use of natural working fluids in different types of systems and application areas. Through the presentation of invited and contributed papers, the conference participants will be introduced to the most recent progress in this important area of technology.”
