Presenters are being sought for the IOR International Rankine 2020 Conference in Glasgow, Scotland – Advances in Cooling, Heating and Power Generation.

The conference has been scheduled to coincide with the bicentenary of the birth of thermodynamics pioneer William Rankine. It will also take place at the University of Glasgow, where he was based.

The Rankine 2020 conference brings together the disciplines of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps.

“The conference program will offer delegates the unique opportunity to explore research and developments in the closely related fields of thermodynamic cycles, working fluids, and their applications to refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps and power generation,” the IOR says.

Abstracts must be submitted by October 16.

Program themes:

  • Cooling and heating refrigeration systems with the reverse Rankine cycle, including compressors, heat transfer and exchanger, system/cycle design and optimisation, novel applications and system simulation.
  • Power generation using organic fluids, comparing the organic Rankine cycle to other power-generation applications, expanders, heat transfer and exchangers, system/cycle design and optimisation, novel applications and system simulation.
  • Working fluids, new fluids, fluid blends, environmental impact, performance analysis and comparisons (both natural working fluids and fluorine-based refrigerants).

A  prize fund of £1,800 (AU$3,265) will be awarded to the best student papers presented. A discounted registration fee for students is available.

Rankine 2020 is expected to attract 300 delegates and 120 technical papers. For more information and details of how to submit abstracts, click here.
