All you need to know about the Intelligent Building Workshop

AIRAH and CSIRO are co-hosting IBW25 in collaboration with CIBSE and Arup on Thursday, August 28 in Sydney.

With the first-of-its-kind Intelligent Building Workshop (IBW25) just over two weeks away, let’s take a look at what’s in store.

Building smarter

The workshop will connect applied researchers, algorithm developers and industry stakeholders to discuss the latest trends relating to the use of AI and machine learning in improving building operations.

The event aims to demystify the use of AI and data in buildings, while offering a glimpse of new developments in this space.

The workshop’s principal presentations have been split across three sessions:

  • NOW – focusing on current happenings
  • NEW – insights into the latest developments in intelligent building
  • NEXT – developments we can expect to see in the near future.

The forum also features two keynote sessions from eminent leaders, as well as an industry-focused panel discussion session.

Speakers and sessions

The workshop will kick off with a keynote presentation by Dr Stephen White, L.AIRAH, leader of CSIRO’s Energy Efficiency Research team. Stephen has 25 years in the fields of energy efficiency, both in terms of supply management and end-use efficiency. He won AIRAH’s prestigious James Harrison Medal in 2022.

His presentation will cover the use of AI in buildings, focusing primarily on data needs and how data governance can improve performance.

Other speakers at the event include:

  • John McCulloch from CSIRO
  • Chris Stamatis, M.AIRAH from Coppertree Analytics
  • Sam West from CSIRO
  • Yongqin Li from Arup
  • Professor Alfonso Capozzoli
  • Mark Goldsworth from CSIRO
  • Anna Davis from the GBCA
  • Bree Travena from Arup
