Abstracts open for IAQ26

AIRAH is accepting abstract submissions for its 2026 Indoor Air Quality Conference (IAQ26), which will take place in Cairns from August 31 to September 4.

After hosting two-day conferences in 2024 and 2025, AIRAH has expanded IAQ26 to become a weeklong destination event in Cairns. Flexible ticketing options mean delegates can attend the whole conference or pick and choose the components they’re most interested in.

The theme for this year’s conference is “From Pathways to Outcomes: Evidence, Buildings, and Human Impact”. Through this theme, presenters will explore how evidence-based practice, built environment solutions, and human health priorities converge.

Topics for IAQ26

AIRAH is inviting abstract submissions on topics including (but not limited to):

  • Moisture, humidity, and biological risk
  • Ventilation: effectiveness and trade-offs
  • Building science as IAQ control
  • Measurement, monitoring, and meaning
  • Standards, regulation, and implementation gaps
  • Health, exposure, and risk-based IAQ approaches.

Conference structure

The week begins with the two-day Building Science Workshop, which will take place on Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1. A special international presenter will run the workshop, which is a hands-on event designed to improve participants’ understanding of the interplay between building physics and indoor air quality.

Wednesday, September 2 will be dedicated to the special one-day Humidity Workshop, which will explore the importance of this often-underrated aspect of occupant comfort and building health.

The core component of IAQ26 runs Thursday–Friday, September 3–4. This is where the classic conference-style presentations and panel sessions will take place.

AIRAH will sell all-inclusive tickets for the whole week, as well as standalone tickets to the Building Science Workshop, the Humidity Workshop, and the core conference. Stay tuned for ticket prices and the opening of registration in the coming weeks.
