BOSS Fire Transit Box has been declared Good Design Award winner in the Product Design and Engineering Design categories in recognition of outstanding design and innovation.
The Australian Good Design Awards is the country’s oldest and most prestigious international awards for design and innovation, dating back to 1958. The awards celebrate the best new products and services on the Australian and international market.
The 2021 Good Design Awards attracted a record number of submissions, with 933 design projects evaluated by more than 70 Australian and international jurors, including designers, engineers, architects and thought leaders. Each entry was evaluated according to a strict set of criteria including good design, design innovation and design impact.
The Good Design Awards jury for engineering design described the BOSS Fire Transit Box as “a very valuable addition to the building sector in the critically important area of fire safety. The design is very well thought-through with the implications on safety, cost, sustainability, transport, packaging, and construction processes considered. This is really impressive design and engineering and a standout example of good design in this category that deserves to be recognised. Well done.”
The jury for product design added: “This is a practical and cost-effective solution to a common construction problem. The product addresses safety and compliance concerns, while streamlining the construction process.”
BOSS Fire CEO Mark Prior was thrilled with the accolade.
“Our design brief was to make it easier for people to build safer places to live,” he says. “We wanted to simplify the installation process, eliminate risk and guarantee compliance, while still reducing overall costs. The BOSS Fire Transit Box does precisely that. It’s an honour to receive two accolades from the Good Design Awards for essentially doing what we love.”
