The NSW government has advertised an Expression of Interest (EOI) to establish panels of HVAC contractors to undertake works at schools across the state.
The work is part of the $500 million Cooler Classrooms initiative announced last year. The program will provide air conditioning in permanent learning spaces and libraries at schools that experience a mean maximum January temperature of 30°C and above. Schools with temperatures below 30°C can also apply to receive air conditioning in their permanent learning spaces and libraries.
Due to the volume of work, the government is seeking to expand its list of HVAC contractors across six regions within the state.
Panel categories will be for projects of less than $100,000, $100,000-$500,000, $500,000-$1m, $1m-$3m and $3m. Contractors of all sizes – small, medium and large – are encouraged to apply. Rural and regional contractors are particularly encouraged to apply.
Works will typically include:
- Installation of air conditioning
- Mechanical introduction of outside air
- Smart control systems to effectively manage indoor air quality and thermal comfort
- Associated electrical works to accommodate the new systems.
Contractors are invited to access the Expression of Interest document via the NSW Government etenders site from Monday, April 1 and searching for RFT-10021491.
