ASHRAE appoints 2025–26 president

ASHRAE has appointed Bill McQuade as its 2025–26 president, along with newly elected officers and directors, during its 2025 Annual Conference in Pheonix.

McQuade will serve as the 2025–26, taking over from M Dennis Knight. In his inaugural presidential address, McQuade introduced the theme for the 2025–26 year: “Healthy buildings: Designing for life.”

AHSRAE says the theme emphasises the critical role of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) in reducing environmental impacts to the built environment while supporting healthier, more resilient communities.

“Today, shelter is more than just a roof over one’s head,” McQuade says. “Shelter encompasses the hospitals we are born in, the homes where we find comfort, the schools where we learn, and the buildings we work in.

“A well-designed shelter prioritises indoor environmental quality, ensuring good air quality, proper lighting, thermal comfort, acoustics and access to safe water, all essential for health and comfort.”

McQuade is vice president for government affairs and global sustainability at Baltimore Aircoil Company, Inc. (BAC) in Jessup, Maryland.

Elected officers who will serve one-year terms are as follows:

• President-Elect: Sarah E. Maston
• Treasurer: Ashish Rakheja.

ASHRAE has also introduced its newest vice presidents, who will serve from 2025–27:

• Vice President: Trenton S. Hunt
• Vice President: Andres J. Sepulveda.

Newly appointed directors and regional chairs who will serve three-year terms from 2025–28 are:

• Region IV Director and Regional Chair: Heather Platt Gulledge
• Region V Director and Regional Chair: Julia Timberman
• Region VI Director and Regional Chair: Maggie Moninski
• Region XII Director and Regional Chair: Jason Alphonso
• Region XIII Director and Regional Chair: Ching Loon Ong
• Region XV Director and Regional Chair: Pankaj Dharkar.

ASHRAE has also introduced its newest directors-at-large:

• Steve Kujak
