Dial in for a deep dive on decarbonising data centres
MECLA and the Decarbonising Building Industry (DBI) initiative are presenting a free webinar on tackling embodied carbon in data centres.

When it comes to emissions from the digital economy, it’s not just operational energy and water demand that need to be considered for data centres. The baked in emissions of construction are also significant, and HVAC is a substantial contributor to the footprint.
This special MECLA Spotlight event will launch an expert white paper, Reducing Embodied Carbon in Data Centre Delivery, which explores key aspects of the carbon challenge relating to materials and building systems. The findings also highlight strategies being implemented to reduce embodied carbon, and explains the links between energy efficiency, water efficiency, embodied carbon and Scope 3 emissions across the data centre supply chain.
The launch webinar on Thursday, April 23 from 2pm–3.30pm AEST will feature a presentation by Alexander Barnstone from MECLA/Climate KIC Australia sharing key findings and recommendations from the white paper.
Industry experts including Dr Steven Linforth, Research Fellow, University of Melbourne (Decarbonising Building Industry – DBI) and Tim Bush, Principal Sustainability Engineer, AWS, will also share case studies and examples from recent data centre developments.
