Danfoss drives control temperature at COP26

Danfoss Drives and Honeywell have been worked together to create a healthier and more productive environment at the COP26 global environmental conference in Glasgow.

While delegates from almost 200 countries carried out discussions about the future of our planet and ramping up global climate action, the two companies implemented their technologies to improve the building environment while contributing to the energy saving goals. These were put in place across the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), including the OVO Hydro, SEC Armadillo and SEC Centre.

Danfoss AC drives communicate with the Honeywell building management system (BMS) to match fan speed to the actual load for optimal system energy efficiency. According to Danfoss, a 20 per cent reduction in fan speed can result in approximately 50 per cent reduction in energy consumption.

Additionally, Honeywell Forge, Honeywell’s enterprise performance management solution, was implemented across the SEC. It provided near real-time analytics and visibility into the energy, space, and comfort performance across the facilities. Danfoss says that the software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution helps drive energy efficiency without sacrificing occupant comfort, which can translate into significant cost savings and lower CO₂ emissions.

Danfoss was also present at some of the supporting events and discussions during COP26 to help highlight the importance of energy efficiency and show decision makers how much can be done with existing building solutions.

Danfoss is planning to play a role at another important conference – the International Energy Agency’s annual conference on energy efficiency. This will take place in June 2022 in Sønderborg, Denmark, just a few kilometres from Danfoss headquarters. Danfoss is one of the co-organizers of the conference, which is the world’s most important annual event on energy efficiency.
