Daikin releases new 18 and 20kW R32 inverter ducted systems
Daikin Australia has introduced its new 18 & 20kW R32 Premium Inverter Ducted Systems (FDYA180AV1 & FDYA200AV1.

The units operate on R32 refrigerant, have greater seasonal energy performance than previous models, come with compact side discharge outdoor units, and can be purchased with an optional refrigerant leak detector sensor.
Daikin says the new systems deliver up to 35% improvement in cooling and 42% in heating compared to previous models. Both models are also approved under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program.
The ducted indoor units feature rotated terminal blocks that allow wiring from sides of the electrical box rather than underneath, along with truss notches for easier installation between roof trusses. The indoor units are paired with 320mm deep side discharge outdoor units and are pre-charged for up to 30m of piping, which Daikin says allows for comfortable placement in tight side access of typical Australian homes.
The outdoor units also feature refrigerant-cooled PCB for reliable operation in ambient temperatures up to 52°C.

The R32 refrigerant leak detector sensor (BRY43A) is required for installations where refrigerant concentration limits exceed those outlined in AS/NZS60335:2:40. When a leak is detected, the sensor signals the Daikin controller to shut off the compressor, switch the indoor fan to fan-only mode, and open all zone dampers to help safely dissipate the refrigerant.
“The integration between our sensor and control systems ensures immediate, automated action that protects both people and property while maintaining compliance with Australian standards,” says Raj Singh, Product & Marketing General Manager at Daikin Australia.
A leak output relay signal is also available via the leak sensor output accessory (BRP9A73) for integration with third-party controls.
